The most common air conditioner failures are identifiable: low refrigerant (often a leak) making it blow warm air, a water leak when the drain is clogged, a frozen evaporator coil, or a capacitor giving out and keeping the unit from starting. Central or wall-mounted, the principle is the same: we find the cause before pricing it.
The central versus wall-mounted distinction still matters. A central air conditioner pushes cold air through the home's ductwork: its failures involve the outdoor condensing unit, the coil in the furnace, or the airflow. A wall-mounted unit (or a heat pump in cooling mode) has everything in two units linked by refrigerant lines. We repair both, and we always start with the same reflex: understand why, before touching anything.

On an old air conditioner out of warranty, we also do the honest math with you: if the repair approaches the cost of a new unit, we tell you. Nous sommes en copropriété et nous nous doutions qu'une des copropriétaires avait un nid d'oiseau dans son conduit de sécheuse. Pierre-Alexandre est venu faire un bon nettoyage et a été assez respectueux de la nature pour poser sous nos cèdres les 3 oeufs trouvés avec une partie du nid enlevé au cas où la mère reviendrait pour ses petits.
