The wall-mounted heat pump - the mini-split - has become the most installed unit in Quebec, and for good reasons: it heats and cools in a single appliance, it is far more efficient than electric baseboards, and the good models hold their heating even in very cold weather. One outdoor unit connected to one or several indoor heads, and you control your comfort zone by zone.
But not all mini-splits are equal, especially here. For our climate, you need a certified cold-climate model capable of heating efficiently at -25 or even -30 degrees - otherwise you end up firing up the backup heating in January, which defeats the purpose. These high-performing models are also the ones that qualify for the highest rebate amounts.
The rest comes down to sizing and placement. The right capacity (in BTU) depends on your home's square footage, insulation and layout. Where the heads go decides your actual comfort: a badly placed head heats one corner and leaves the rest cold. That is the whole purpose of the in-home evaluation.

"A wall-mounted heat pump is the same for everybody"
On the box, maybe. In the result, not at all. The same unit sized wrong will short cycle and waste energy; placed wrong, it will heat one corner and leave the rest cold; installed wrong, it will give you trouble for years. What you are really buying is the evaluation, the sizing and the quality of the installation - not just the machine.
The other thing we hear: "I will just take the cheapest one." The lowest price often comes from an evaluation done over the phone and a rushed installation. And then there is the rebate: a non-eligible model or an installation by someone without the right RBQ licence costs you LogisVert, which covers a significant share of the cost. We calculate the rebate into your quote and handle the application, so you do not miss out.
Finally, continuity: the in-house team that installs your heat pump is the one that will repair it. That forces us to do the job right the first time. And if it needs maintenance later, that is us too, with the air conditioner cleaning that keeps the mini-split performing.

Nous sommes en copropriété et nous nous doutions qu'une des copropriétaires avait un nid d'oiseau dans son conduit de sécheuse. Pierre-Alexandre est venu faire un bon nettoyage et a été assez respectueux de la nature pour poser sous nos cèdres les 3 oeufs trouvés avec une partie du nid enlevé au cas où la mère reviendrait pour ses petits.
